Wanting to breastfeed again. HELP! 10 pts best answer?
I had to stop breast feeding when I got a bladder infection. It hurt too bad to pump or breast feed.
This was over a week ago.
I tried manually expressing a little bit while in the shower to try to keep things going.
But I don’t feel engorged ever now, or leak very much. (to give you an idea I only have to change my breast pads twice a day, and even then only a little section is wet)
Is it too late to continue breast feeding???
Also – before I stopped – I was giving my baby breast milk and formula… but she’s been drinking just the formula for over a week now – would it mess up the digestive system too much if I went back to just breast feeding?
Please help!
thank you…
Woo!! What a great mommy! There is definitely a chance for you to re lactate. And if she didn’t have any problems with your milk before hand, she should be fine to switch back.
As to how ~ Nurse-in!! Spend a few days offering her the breast every chance you get. Don’t use any pacifiers or bottles. She may resist at first, but just keep trying. She will when she is hungry enough. You are not to far gone!
